R Kelly Faces Trial On Sex Abuse Cases

R Kelly, the sensation crooner may be facing jail time after sexual abuse charges were filed against him. 52-year-old R Kelly is facing ten aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Four victims are accusing Kelly of sex abuse. Three of the women were allegedly underage when it occurred. The incidents date all the way back to 1998. The most recent was in 2010.

On Friday, the judge on R.Kelly’s has signed a no-bail warrant. However, he will appear in court on March 8. With that in mind, if there is a conviction on all ten charges, he faces up to 70 years in prison. Kelly has a bond hearing Saturday, February 23.

According to defense attorney Steve Greenberg, Kelly is not aware of his charges. For decades, Kelly has been accused of sexual misconduct with young girls. However, he denies any wrongdoing. Greenberg believes that his client is innocent of all charges.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx was asking for any and all possible alleged victims of sexual assault or domestic violence by Kelly to come forward. So far, they have after the Lifetime docu-series “Surviving R. Kelly” came out.

R Kelly To Appear In Court, Faces 70 Years In Prison

In the docu-series, there were 50 interviews. One was by accuser Jerhonda Pace. There were also parents of Kelly’s victims as well as his ex-wife Andrea Kelly and ex-girlfriend Kitti Jones. Both of his brothers Carey and Bruce Kelly made appearances as well.

However, Fox was able to catch parts of the docu-series. She says what she saw made her sick. As a survivor herself, it was hard to take it all in.

Attorney’s will only identity the victims by their last name to keep their identities safe. H.W, the first victim alleges that the incident against her happened between May 26, 1998, and May 25, 1999. She was under 17 at the time. R.L., the second victim’s incident was between Sept. 26, 1998, and Sept. 25, 2001. She was also under 17. The age of the last victim was not listed.
