Rats Are Taking Over In LA

Rats are running amuck on the inside and outside of Los Angles‘ City hall. Officials are in the midst of getting the infestation of the rodents under control.

There have been dead rodents in the ceilings. Also, they can be heard scurrying around the office of City Council President Herb Wesson. Someone saw a rat outside the building chewing on a pumpkin during a Halloween party last year.


Outside, a rat was recently spotted gnawing through a pumpkin put out for decoration at the building’s Halloween party.

In November, Elizabeth Greenwood, the city attorney was working in the downtown office when she contracted typhus. According to Greenwords, the incident was terrifying. She says at one point; she thought she was going to die. At the time, she did not know what was wrong with her.

Due to the work conditions. She has yet to return to the building.

There was a typhus outbreak in the downtown area of LA. When fleas bite rights, they become infected by a specific bacteria that causes typhus. Humans are susceptible to the disease as well. They can catch it from flea bites or touching the feces of insects.

Wesson says that the outbreak needs to come to an end. There was a submission of a motion made on Wednesday asking for the city to report on the vermin and pest control issues.


According to Wesson, employees should not have to worry about working with rats running around. He intends to do whatever it takes to eliminate the infestation problem.


They may have to rip out the carpet in all of the buildings. Wesson is looking to how much it may cost to do so.

There is also a push for a policy that will require every employee to secure their food after hours. Also, custodians will have the ok to toss out any food that is old or left out.
