Sadly, today we have to announce the death of a young man who came over to the US from Congo to have a tumor removed. He death occurred not too long after landing at the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. CBS Chicago was one of the first to report the unfortunate incident of the young man’s death.
On Tuesday, eight 8-year-old David Dieme, from Congo was at the airport around 4:30 p.m. with a refugee family. He was excited and ready for his life-changing procedure.
The young man was traveling with his father and a few of his other siblings. Their flight came in from Dubai. They were in the middle of clearing paperwork as the family was leaving the aircraft. However, a U.S Customs and Border Protection officer noticed that Dieme wasn’t moving.
Young Man from Congo Dies While On Way To Chicago
They were sure to alert EMS immediately, and they were at the terminal in no time. They were to attend to Dieme, performing the standard procedure as the would any sick passenger. Before heading on the flight, young Dieme was sick before even boarding the flight. However, he did not notify anyone of his symptoms. He was not suffering from a fever either. Unfortunately, he was having diarrhea and vomiting, so he was taken to the hospital.
While at Presence Resurrection medical, they were able to pronounce his death.
According to a spokesman from the CDC. The child was not suffering from any diseases that were posing a threat to his current health status.
Border Protection and U.S. Customs are very sorrowful the death on young Dieme. The family was on their way to Texas from the Chicago airport.
Those at the Cook County Medical office are in the process of gathering as much information the young boy’s death. The results are pending from his autopsy.
