“The Nun” was the winner this weekend when it comes to box office hits in North America coming in with $53.5 million. Doing so makes the movie the best debut for series. In 2013, “The Conjuring” was at the top with a record-setting $41.8 million. Overseas, the film was able to garner $77.5 million for a worldwide number of $131 million.
“The Conjuring,” “Annabelle,” “The Conjuring 2,” and “Annabelle: Creation” have collectively made $1.1 billion on a global scale.
According to Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros. head of domestic distribution, they that there was a lot of anticipation for the film. However, the results and number in attendance were astounding!
Currently, Warner Bros. is raking in the dough. For the past five weekends, the company has been on top at box offices. Even on its fourth weekend, “Crazy Rich Asians,” was able to bring an impressive $13.5 million. Since hitting the theaters, the film globally has made $136 million.
“The Nun” Is This Weekend’s Box Office Hit, Blowing Others Out Of The Water
“God Bless the Broken Road,” a faith-based drama was only able to bring in $1.5 million this weekend. The movie is loosely based on the Rascal Flats song. The stars of the film are Jordin Sparks, Robin Givens, Lindsay Pulsipher, and former NFL player LaDainian Tomlinson.
The movie “The Meg” is still holding up in theatres as well as Sony’s “Searching”. Domestically, “The Meg” was able to earn another $6.1 million this weekend domestically, with $131.6 million overall. However, “Searching” was only able to make $4.5 million in North America this weekend with a total of $14.3 million so far.
“Mission: Impossible – Fallout” starring Tom Cruise was able to cross a major milestone over the weekend at $700 million. It continues to surpass “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” which was able to make $649.7 million worldwide and is the highest grossing film within the franchise.
