Arnold Schwarzenegger, former California governor and Terminator, is in good condition after heart surgery.
According to his spokesman, Daniel Ketchell, his first words after waking up were “I’m back”. So it’s safe to say he’s in good spirits as well.
The 70-year-old actor and politician underwent the procedure Thursday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Schwarzenegger needed to replace a valve which they replaced originally back in 1997 for a heart defect.
Ketchell said that the original replacement was not a permanent fixture. It outlived its expectancy, so Schwarzenegger decided to replace it via a less-invasive method.
Although he is still in recovery, he is in stable condition.
TMZ was the first to report on Schwarzenegger’s condition. They said that the former bodybuilding champion underwent a semi-experimental catheter valve replacement. They mentioned that the doctors had decided to perform an emergency open-heart surgery after complications developed.
The Terminator V.S. Trump
Schwarzenegger, an Australia native, was best known as former Mr. Universe and his roles in the movies Terminator and Total Recall, back in the 80s and 90s. In later years, the actor transitioned into the political scene where he ran for California’s governor as a Republican. He served two terms (2003 to 2011) as “The Governator,” a loving nickname given to him by the nation.
Ever since, the Australian has been mixing acting and politics. In the last year, he has taken a vocal stand against President Trump. He has publicly criticized the president’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate accord. He also called him out on his evasion of commentary after a violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville.
Schwarzenegger also happened to be the host of the “New Celebrity Apprentice.” The NBC show was an iteration of Trump’s former reality show.
Because of Schwarzenegger’s T.V. presence and criticism of Trump, he faced insults on Twitter and other platforms from the U.S. President.
However, Schwarzenegger did not take the insults sitting. As a response, he proposed an idea to Trump. He asked to switch jobs since Trump was so knowledgeable in ratings, and if he was president, the people could finally sleep comfortably again.
