In the New York metro area, there is a man that has been battling frequent asthma attacks. With numerous asthma attacks he was making a weekly visit to his local hospital. Being in his late forties, this was uncommon. The emergency department chief of the Saint Joseph’s Healthcare System of New York Mr. Mark Rosenberg did some investigating on his head for the man.
After some investigating, Rosenberg now knew what the issue was. He believe’s the reason for the weekly visits to the hospital because he is living right next to a construction site. The construction workers throughout the day were digging deep ditches. Also, bringing up dirt that has aged over one-hundred and fifty years old. With all the digging from the construction workers, this makes a lot of dust in the air surrounding the construction site. Everyone around will breathe that in.
Asthma Attacks Due To Construction
The man lives in a small apartment right next to the site and only has a little air conditioner that’s located in his bedroom. Rosenberg says that there is a lot of dirt from the construction site covering the man’s apartment. That being said, he believes that the dust is traveling into the man’s apartment through his air conditioner. This is what is causing the man to have asthma attacks.
The hospital and the emergency department chief of the Saint Joseph’s Healthcare System of New York Mr. Mark Rosenberg came together to find an answer to this mans weekly visit to the hospital. Rosenberg and the hospital suggest for the man to move out of the apartment for awhile.
His doctors asked him if there was anyway he could stay with a family member until the digging was over. Thankfully, the male patient had a family member not too far away to stay with. He has not been to the hospital since because he is no longer around the one hundred and fifty-year-old dusty dirt.
