Stephen Curry was glad to know that he would be able to play during Monday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. However, the basketball superstar had a conversation with ESPN and was not too happy about finding out he had $50,000 fine.
Curry did receive a $50,000 fine from Saturday’s game after throwing his mouthpiece in the same direction of a game official. At the time, the Warriors were playing the Memphis Grizzlies and loss.
Steph told reporters that even though the price is high, he feels that he should have shown more restraint. He says that even though it’s a tough blow, it’s not about the money.
It was while complaining about a no-call on a drive that the sharpshooter tossed his mouthpiece. The ref then did ask for the removal of Curry from the game. As Kevin Durant began to argue, he too was then sent to the bench.
For verbally abusing a ref, Andre Iguodala will have to pay $15,000.
Some believe that Curry should have had a one-time suspension.
Be that as it may, league officials were not able to prove that he was trying to through the mouthpiece at the referee.
Curry went on to say that the situation was embarrassing. He says that he has to do better. Especially since the league is looking to crack down on those sorts of outbursts.
During game 6 of the 2016 NBA Final, Curry was fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing his mouthpiece. He accidentally hit a fan. It’s not new for the basketball star to throw is mouthguard down when upset.
However, he knows that if he continues, he could face stiffer fines, or worse, suspension.
He says that he is going to make a better effort of controlling his feelings on the court. Also, to make sure his mouthpiece stays on his person at all times while he plays.
