Megan Johnson had given birth to her baby girl only hours before her passing. No one saw it coming.
A few years ago, Johnson received news that she had congestive heart failure. Unlike many, she was able to receive a new heart and a second chance at life.
Early Tuesday morning, her husband, Nathan made a post on Instagram indicating that the birth of their child was a success. He said that their new daughter’s name was Eilee Kate.
According to friends, the happy couple took the next six hours showering their baby with love and happiness.
Things took a turn for the worst when Megan began to experience complications after the birth. Before noon, Megan was dead.
On the couple’s crowdfund account, Wilson, a bandmate of Nathan posted that Nathan was devastated. He went on to say that with the situation being obvious, there no more to say.
Wilson was able to raise over $350,000 by mid-day Friday. The money was for Nathan and his baby girl.
No one knows exactly what caused Megan Johnson to die. According to the American Heart Association, women who have previously gone through heart transplant surgery have the chance of developing complication while pregnant or after.
Megan Johnson Loses Life After Giving Birth
When Johnson was 15, she was a very active volleyball and soccer player. Then all of a sudden, she lost her mojo. In an article written in 2011 by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, she said that she would run out of breath very fast.
Megan Johnson found out that he had myocarditis. Myocarditis virus born inflammation that can cause heart failure.
After seven years of being on medication, her symptoms came back. Doctors let her know this time around that she was going through congestive heart failure.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that during 2010, John was able to go through heart transplant surgery at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
On a blog, she had written that though she was happy for the gift, she was sad for at what cost the other family went through for her to receive the heart.
Only a year following receipt of the new heart, she and Nathan got married, and went to Nashville to start their lives anew.
A friend of Megan and Nathan told reporters that Johnson was an organ donor, and she will be gifting over 50 people with organs.
