As long as things play out accordingly, The Oakland Raiders will officially be adding Marshawn Lynch Wednesday.
Representatives for the Raiders and Lynch came to an agreement on their contract regarding details on swapping Lynch’s rights with the Seahawks.
The compensation for the draft will be a trade of 2018 late-round choices. The Seahawks will trade their sixth-round pick for Oakland’s fifth-round pick.
Lynch just has to pass his physical with the Raiders before becoming an official member. The team says that he will be taking his physical today, Wednesday, once returning home from his trip to Haiti. Lynch and his former teammates from the Seahawks, Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril, have been building houses and schools across the country of Haiti.
Lynch’s flight was scheduled to return Tuesday. However, he missed his flight and is expected to return today.
As with every other scenario with Lynch, nothing is final until it’s final. Most are cautious of celebrating until he arrives home and completes the deal. But right now, reliable sources feel confident it will follow through.
Recently, the Raiders and Lynch came to a contract agreement for 2017. After a few weeks of negotiations, Oakland agrees to pay a $3 million base pay to Lynch. However, if he gains over 1,00 yards, he will also have the opportunity to make an additional $2 million.
Lynch will also be signing papers to unretire in the near future.
Once his physical is complete, it will finalize any speculations on him returning. On April 5th he met with the Raiders expressing how much he wants to play for them. He said he just wants to play for his home team, in what became a recruitment visit.
Derek Carr, Oakland’s quarterback, says he is excited to have Lynch on the team. He says he’s an incredible teammate and everyone loves him.
