John Mellencamp and Christie Brinkley have split. A representative confirmed the breakup.
Everyone knows John Mellencamp for his catchy brand of populist heartland rock. He rose to superstardom in the 1980’s with a string of top ten hits. The songs “Hurts So Good”, “Jack and Diane”, “Crumblin’ Down”, and “Pink Houses” are just a few of his many songs.
The late 1970’s, Brinkley made it on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for three times gaining her worldwide fame.
She was also the face of CoverGirl for 25 years, the longest running cosmetics contract of any model in history.
Brinkley and Mellencamp had dated for one year before they split. The pair has “vowed to remain best of friends” added the rep.
Last November, the 62-year-old supermodel discussed her romance with Mellencamp, 64. “I’m just having fun and, you know, we’ll see,” she said. “Yeah, I mean we’re dating and you know, having a good time. You’ve been open to my private life enough so I’m just trying to keep my private life private.”
When Brinkley and Mellencamp met at a party last summer, she wasn’t entirely sure that they would hit it off.
Brinkley also liked the fact that Mellencamp was in his 60s. “When it comes to relationships, there is something nice about just being the same age,” she said. “I know guys that go out with girls that are so, so young. They’ll throw some reference out, and they’re like, ‘What’s that?”
